   CONVOCATORIA PREMIO ALBA DE CRÍTICA Y TEORÍA DEL ARTE 2010 El Fondo Cultural del ALBA y el Centro de Arte Contemporáneo Wifredo Lam de La Habana convocan, por primera vez, al Premio Alba de Crítica y Teoría del Arte, con el fin de incentivar el pensamiento en torno a diversos aspectos de las artes visuales en América Latina y el Caribe. BASES • Se concursará con una investigación inédita que discurse sobre los procesos del arte actual en América Latina y el Caribe. Los aspirantes deben ser oriundos de esta zona geográfica aunque no residan en el país natal. • Las investigaciones serán evaluadas en función de su carácter crítico o ensayístico y su relación con las diferentes problemáticas de las artes visuales en America Latina y el Caribe, así como sobre la manera en que aborden las nuevas configuraciones geopolíticas y los procesos interculturales en la región. De igual modo, interesa destacar los escenarios que plantea la mundialización frente a la construcción de nuevas identidades. • Los textos presentados no pueden haber sido premiados con anterioridad en concursos nacionales o internacionales. • Se seleccionará un jurado internacional de académicos, críticos y expertos de arte que evaluarán y premiarán los proyectos presentados. • Se presentarán cinco copias del trabajo. • Las investigaciones deben contar entre 200 y 250 cuartillas. (Fuente Courier New a 12 puntos, con interlineado 1.5; aproximadamente 30 líneas de 60 golpes de máquina por cuartilla, en formato de documento Microsoft Word). • Los proyectos se enviarán acompañados de una ficha biográfica del autor no mayor de una página. • La fecha límite de presentación de los trabajos es el 30 de mayo de 2010. • El Gran Premio consistirá en 10 000 USD y la publicación del texto. El jurado podrá estimar también la entrega de menciones, sin sobrepasar la cantidad de tres, que comprenderían un monto en metálico de 3 000 USD a la primera mención y de 1 500 USD a las dos restantes. • El fallo del jurado será inapelable. 3. ALLEN WHITEHILL CLOWES CURATORIAL FELLOWSHIP
   The Indianapolis Museum of Art is pleased to announce a nine-month curatorial fellowship. The fellowship supports scholarly research related to the Clowes Collection at the IMA and provides curatorial training in the field of European painting and sculpture. The Clowes Fellow is fully integrated into the curatorial division of the Museum and has duties comparable to those of an assistant curator, ranging from collection research and management to exhibition development and the preparation of interpretive materials and programs. To be eligible for the fellowship, the applicant must be enrolled in a graduate course of study leading to an advanced degree in the history of art or a related discipline, or be a recent degree recipient (within the last two years). Applicants must demonstrate scholarly excellence and promise, as well as a strong interest in the museum profession. U.S. citizenship is not required. The Clowes Fellow will receive a stipend of USD 16,000 and an educational travel allowance of USD 2,000. Housing is provided in a scholar¹s residence on the grounds of the museum. The nine-month fellowship period will begin September 1, 2010. The appointment is renewable. Applications should include a cover letter explaining your interest in the fellowship, a curriculum vitae, a concise statement describing your area of research and its relationship to the Clowes Collection and three letters of recommendation (academic and professional).    Newhouse Faculty Fellowships are open to both junior and senior faculty members at other institutions. In addition to salary-replacement stipends of $50,000, Newhouse faculty fellows will receive up to $3,000 in research support. It is expected that external faculty fellows will combine their Newhouse Center stipends with support from other granting agencies or their home institutions.Applicants for Newhouse Faculty Fellowships should submit by December 1, 2009 1) a research proposal of no more than 1250 words, describing the project and plan of research for the proposed residency; a brief bibliography may be appended; 2) a brief description of a broad programming vision in which to present his/her work while in residence; 3) a curriculum vitae; 4) the names and contact information of three referees, and 5) a cover letter that makes clear the applicant's reasons for wishing to work at the Newhouse Center and that also makes clear whether the applicant is willing to be considered for an unstipended as well as a stipended fellowship.    La Fundación Arte y Derecho premiará este año con 6.000€ un escrito original e inédito que verse sobre arte y que esté relacionado con la creación visual. Los textos pueden tener plena libertad formal para dar cabida a todo tipo de iniciativas. Se reconocerá la originalidad y el interés reflexivo de las creaciones.
9. Becas SMAX para comisarios
   In July 2009, the State of North Rhine-Westphalia will inaugurate a new model for promoting postgraduate curatorial work by offering a programme-based grant. The grant provides 1,250 Euro /month in support for each participant for a period of 12 months. The curatorial grant is practice-oriented and tied in with the German-Dutch European project smax. The programme is located at Schloss Ringenberg, in Hamminkeln on the Lower Rhine.

    Um den Dialog zwischen Wissenschaft und Kunst zu fördern, vergibt Balmoral ein Anwesenheitsstipendium an eine Nachwuchswissenschaftlerin/einen Nachwuchswissenschaftler der Geisteswissenschaften (vorzugsweise Kunsttheorie) für ein kuratorisches Projekt, das mit den Stipendiaten des Künstlerhauses Schloß Balmoral (Bildende Künstlerinnen und Künstler) zu entwickeln ist. Das Stipendium beträgt 6 Monate und beginnt im April 2010. Es ist monatlich mit 1.200 Euro dotiert bei freier Unterkunft im Künstlerhaus Schloß Balmoral.
